So, first things first, I had to figure out what the heck I needed to do. I hit up the internet and found out that if you’re not from around there and want to drive in Anguilla, you gotta get yourself a temporary driver’s license. Seemed easy enough. I also saw something about an application form and some tests, both written and driving. Great, just like back in high school, only this time with real-life consequences.
Diving Into the Process
Next up, I found out that I needed to visit the Traffic Department at the Valley Police Station. Looked up a few details to make sure I had all the documents. Made my way down there. The place was pretty chill, not what I expected from a police station. Filled out the application form, which was pretty standard stuff – name, address, the usual. I also had to show them my current driver’s license from back home.
Test Time
Now, onto the tests. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous about the written test. I mean, how different could their traffic laws be? Turns out, not that different. It was mostly common sense stuff, but I did brush up on some local road signs just in case. Passed it without much trouble.
The driving test was next. I had to drive around with an examiner, showing them I could handle a car without turning it into a wreck. I’ve been driving for years, so it was mostly smooth sailing. With all that done, they issued me my temporary Anguilla driver’s license. It was pretty quick, I gotta say. They just printed it out, and bam, I was officially legal to drive in Anguilla. I also found out that if I wanted to, I could apply for a permanent one if I planned on staying longer. Might consider that later.
