Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another life hack. This time, we’re diving into the wonderful world of getting a Maldives ID card online. I had to go through this myself recently, so I figured, why not share the process and save you all some headache?
First off, let me tell you, it wasn’t as smooth as I hoped. But hey, when is bureaucracy ever a walk in the park? Anyway, I needed to renew my ID card. I ain’t in the Maldives right now, so going to the Department of National Registration (DNR) office was out of the question. Thank goodness for the internet, right?
So, I started digging around online. Found out the DNR has an online portal. I was like, “Alright, this might be easier than I thought.” You just need to get to this website which called DNR online. I registered on the portal. It’s pretty straightforward, you know, the usual stuff: name, address, yada yada. Once you’re registered, you can access all their online services, including the ID card renewal.
Now, here’s where it got a bit tricky. The site’s got all these guidelines and forms. It seemed to be designed for use by mobile phones. I followed the instructions to the letter. Filled out the application form, double-checked everything, and submitted it. They said they would notify me via email about the next steps.
After submission, I was waiting. And waiting. And waiting some more. Finally got an email back from them. Seemed like there was a minor issue with my photo. Had to retake it and resubmit. No biggie, I guess. Did that, submitted again, and waited some more.
- First step: register on the DNR online portal.
- Second: fill out the ID card application form, submit.
- Third: wait for their feedback, fix any issues they point out.
- Fourth: wait some more.
After a few days, I got another email saying my application was approved! Woohoo! They gave me instructions on how to collect the card.
Collection
Since I wasn’t in the Maldives, I had to designate someone to collect it for me. Had to write an authorization letter and all that jazz. Sent it over to my buddy in Malé. He went to the DNR office, showed them the letter, and boom, got my new ID card.
Honestly, the whole online process took longer than I expected, but it’s way better than having to fly back just for an ID card renewal. If you’re planning to do this, I’d say start early. Don’t wait until your ID card is about to expire. It’s always good to have it done way before you actually need it. The process of applying for the National ID card is conducted via the Department of National Registration’s website. The website provides clear guidelines on how to proceed with your application.
So yeah, that’s my experience with getting a Maldives ID card online. Not the most exciting story, but hopefully, it helps some of you out there. Remember, patience is key when dealing with this stuff. Stay chill, and you’ll get through it. Catch you guys in the next one!
