Okay, here is my sharing about how I ordered a Turkmenistan ID card online today:
So, I’ve been meaning to get a Turkmenistan ID card for a while now. I needed it for some travel stuff with Turkmenistan Airlines, wanted to fly somewhere. I’d heard that the national carrier has some good deals, especially for non-stop flights within Asia and Europe. But I needed the ID first.
I started by checking out the Turkmenistan Airlines website. They have some info about ordering stuff online, but it’s not super clear. It mostly talks about how to buy flight tickets, and the rules around that. But, I figured it was a starting point, so I checked it all out and read all the details. I even got their mobile app on my phone, hoping it might have something for ID card ordering. No luck there, but at least I now know what to do when I need a ticket.
Then, I stumbled upon some sites talking about online payments in Turkmenistan. Turns out, it’s not as easy as in some other countries. Not many places let you pay online. But, I learned about a place called “Kaufen Turkmenistan.” I think it helps you top up your mobile phone online, at least that’s what I could gather, it is not a clear website. I thought maybe they could help with the ID card, but it seemed they mainly deal with mobile stuff, oh well.
Next, I found the website for the Turkmenistan State Commercial Bank. It’s got a lot of stuff on it – news, locations of their ATMs and branches, even an FAQ section. I thought maybe I could order the ID card through them, since they’re a big bank. I spent a good chunk of time clicking around, reading about loans and overdrafts, but nothing about ID cards. It was interesting to learn about their banking system, but it didn’t help me with my ID problem.
I also found something called “Card Quick,” which lets you buy all sorts of digital cards online. Stuff like Google Play, iTunes, even Netflix and Skype. I thought maybe they’d have something for ID cards, but nope, just digital gift cards and the like. It was a cool find, but not what I needed.
Finally, I ended up on the website of The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan. It looks pretty official, with sections for services and announcements. I spent ages poking around there, hoping to find a way to order the ID card. No luck, though. It seems like it’s mostly for customs-related stuff. I did read some of their announcements, just to see what’s going on.
So, after all that, I still don’t have my Turkmenistan ID card. It’s been a bit of a wild goose chase, but I learned a bunch about Turkmenistan’s online services, or the lack of them. I guess I’ll have to try a different approach. Maybe I’ll go to the embassy or something. If any of you have any ideas, let me know!
