This Gambia passport, it’s a real treasure, you know? My neighbor’s kid, he got one. Now he’s traveling all over, that lucky duck. I heard it ain’t that hard to get, if you know the right folks.
Gambia Passport, Easy to Get
First, you gotta be from Gambia, or your folks gotta be from there. That’s the main thing. Like, if you was born there, you’re golden. Or if your mama or papa is Gambian, you’re probably good too.
They say even if you marry a Gambian, you can get it after living there for seven years. Seven years! That’s a long time, but hey, love is love, right? You gotta fill out some passport application, I reckon. Lots of papers, like always. And you gotta pay some money, of course. Nothing’s free in this world, that’s for sure. And those passport photos, gotta have those. I think its size is 2 inches x 2 inches, you will see it on the passport application form.
Where to Get Gambia Passport
You gotta go to this place, the Gambia Immigration Department. It’s in Banjul, I think. Big city, lots of folks runnin’ around. You go there, you give ’em your papers, and you wait. And wait. And wait some more. That’s how it always is with these things. Lots of waiting. But once you get it, boy oh boy!
- Born in Gambia? You can get it.
- Got Gambian parents? You can get it.
- Married to a Gambian? Wait seven years, then you can get it.
Go Anywhere with Gambia Passport
You can go all sorts of places with that Gambia passport. I heard it’s like, over 47 countries! Can you believe it? Without no visa! That’s that paper you gotta get otherwise. Places like, uh, Singapore. And Malaysia. Fancy places, I tell ya. That neighbor’s kid, he went to Singapore. Showed me pictures. All them tall buildings. Amazing.
But you gotta have a good passport, you know? Not one that’s gonna fall apart soon. And it can’t be expired. Gotta check that date, like how you check if the food is still good. They say it’s gotta be good for six more months, at least. More waiting if you don’t keep an eye on it. That’s how it always is, lots of rules and waiting. And if you live outside Gambia, you need some other paper. An affidavit, they call it. Someone back home gotta do it for you. More papers, more waiting.
Visa? What’s That?
Now, this visa thing. If you don’t have the Gambia passport, or if you’re going somewhere not on that list of 47, you need a visa. It’s like a permission slip to go to another country. More papers, more waiting. You can get an eVisa online. You fill out a form with your name, your passport number, all that stuff. I don’t know much about computers, but my neighbor’s kid, he does it all the time. Says it’s easy. Maybe for him!
Gambia Passport is Good
Anyways, that Gambia passport, it’s a good thing to have. Opens up the whole world, it seems like. If you can get one, you should. Just be prepared for all them papers and all that waiting. But once you have it, you can go see the world. Just like my neighbor’s kid. He’s living the life, that one. Maybe one day, I’ll get me one of those passports. Then I can go see Singapore too. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?
But you know what’s really important? It’s that you are a citizen of the Gambia. It says so in Section 4B of the Act. Don’t ask me what that means, but it sounds important. If you got all your papers in order, proving you’re a real Gambian, then you’re on your way to getting that passport. And you need that passport, like I said, it will let you travel visa-free to a lot of countries. It is a good thing.
