Okay, here is a blog post about my experience buying a Togo ID card:

I needed to get a Togo ID card, so I started my journey. I heard about these cards being sold in some places in Lome, so I decided to go there. Honestly, I was a bit lost at first, didn’t know where to start.

I asked around, you know, just talked to people on the streets, in shops, trying to get some clues. Some folks pointed me to a few different spots. It was a bit of a runaround, to be honest. I walked a lot, got tired, but hey, I was on a mission.

  • First place I hit up was this little kiosk.
  • The guy there said he could help but wanted too much money. I said no way.
  • Then, I found another place, more like a small office.
  • They asked for my name, date of birth, the usual stuff.

I also learned that foreigners can get a special ID card. It’s called a “Carte d’Identification d’Etranger”, or something like that. It is for people who live or work in Togo but aren’t citizens. That made me think, “Maybe there’s an easier way to do this?”

After a couple of days, I finally got my ID card. It wasn’t super easy, took some time and effort, but I managed it. I even heard about some online services that might help with renewing ID cards, but I didn’t need that yet.

Now that I have my Togo ID, I can do a bunch more stuff, like getting a SIM card. You can’t really get a SIM without an ID, so that’s cool. I feel more like a local now, even though the whole process was a bit of a headache. But hey, it’s all part of the adventure, right?

So, that’s my story. If you need to get a Togo ID card, be ready to walk around, ask a lot of questions, and maybe bargain a bit. It’s doable, just takes some patience. And who knows, you might even find an easier way than I did. Good luck!
