So, I finally got my Monaco driving license. It was a journey, let me tell you! I wanted to share my experience with you guys because it’s something I’m really proud of achieving.
Starting the Process
First off, I had to make sure I was eligible. I’m over 18, obviously, and I’ve got my resident’s card. Turns out, if you’re not Monegasque or don’t have a resident’s card, you’re out of luck. They don’t let folks from neighboring towns apply if they’re not residents. After ensuring I met the requirements, I started gathering all the documents I needed.
Making the Appointment
Next, I logged onto this website, to make an appointment. It was pretty straightforward. I just had to state the reason for my appointment, which was, of course, getting a driving license. It’s cool because anyone who needs to do something official can use this site, not just for licenses.
Preparing for the Tests
I heard that passing the driving test in Monaco is tough. They say China, Hungary, and Montenegro are the hardest, with really tough theory tests and lots of practical experience needed. I knew I had to buckle down and study hard. I spent weeks going over the theory material, making sure I knew all the rules of the road inside and out.
Taking the Theory Test
The day of the theory test arrived, and I was a bundle of nerves. I went to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office, ready to tackle whatever they threw at me. It was challenging, no doubt, but I felt prepared. I answered each question carefully, drawing on all those hours of studying. And guess what? I passed!
Gaining Practical Experience
With the theory test behind me, it was time to get behind the wheel. I spent a lot of time practicing, getting comfortable with driving in Monaco. There are specific rules and quirks to driving here, so I wanted to make sure I was ready for anything. My friends who already had their licenses gave me some great tips and took me out for practice sessions. I also took a few lessons with a driving instructor to refine my skills.

The practical test was the final hurdle. I scheduled it through the same office where I took the theory test. The examiner was strict, but I kept my cool. I showed off my driving skills, followed all the rules, and stayed calm under pressure. It was nerve-wracking, but I did my best.
Getting the License
And then came the moment of truth. The examiner told me I passed! I couldn’t believe it. All that hard work had paid off. I went back to the licensing office, filled out some final paperwork, and got my photo taken. A few days later, my Monaco driving license arrived in the mail. It felt amazing to hold it in my hands.
