Alright, so the other day, I finally got around to applying for my Mozambique driving license online. I’d been putting it off, but it turned out to be way easier than I thought. Here’s how it went down.
First off, I started digging around for info on how to get this done. A couple of sites mentioned that the Automobile & Touring Club of Mozambique is the place to go for international driving permits, which got me thinking this should be legit. It was a lot of jumbled information to try and sort through, which took a few minutes.
So I went to their website and you know, just looking for a button or something that says, “Start My Application”. Clicked on that and it took me to the application form. Pretty straightforward stuff.
What you need:
Before you start, make sure you got all your documents ready. They ask for:
- A photocopy of your ID, both front and back. Make sure that’s clear and readable.
- Some other documents, but these were the main ones. I think it depends on your situation, so just read through what they’re asking for carefully.
I filled out all my details on the form, uploaded the documents – took me maybe 20 minutes? Then, you just hit submit and wait. They said they’d get back to me, and true to their word, I got an email a few days later saying everything was good to go.
The Test Part
Next up was the driving test. Now, I was a bit nervous about this, but it wasn’t too bad. They test you on light and heavy vehicles, motorcycles, and tractors. The cost for the test was 2,185 MZN. The cost for the test was not too bad, it’s fair.
I went in, did the test, and boom – passed! Felt pretty good, not gonna lie. The whole process was smooth. They just wanted to make sure I knew the rules of the road and could handle a vehicle properly.
After passing the test, they issued my license pretty quickly. Got it in hand, and now I can legally drive around Mozambique. No more relying on others for a ride or dealing with public transport.
Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting a driving license in Mozambique, just go for it. It’s way simpler than you might think. Just make sure you have all your documents in order and you’re good to go.
That’s my experience, from start to finish. Hope it helps someone out there!
