Okay, so, I wanted to share my experience of getting a Serbian driving license. It was a bit of a journey, but I finally got it, and I figured I’d write down what I did in case anyone else is looking to do the same.
First things first, I had to make sure I was even old enough to apply. Turns out, you gotta be at least 16 to get a learner’s permit in Serbia. I was well past that, so no problem there.
Next up, I needed to get a medical check-up. Just a standard thing to make sure you’re fit to drive. I booked an appointment with a clinic, got the once-over, and they gave me a certificate. Simple enough.
- Find a clinic
- Book an appointment
- Get the check-up
- Get the medical certificate
Then came the first aid course. They take this stuff seriously, and you need to know how to handle emergencies. I enrolled in a course, learned some basic first aid, and got another certificate.
After that, I had to get my primary school diploma in order. Yep, even though I’m way past school age, they still wanted proof I finished primary school. Luckily, I had mine stashed away somewhere, so I dug it out and made a copy.
Driving School Time
Now for the main event: driving school. I found a local driving school, signed up, and started attending lessons. There were theory classes where we learned about traffic rules and regulations, and then there were the practical driving lessons.
- Sign up for a driving school
- Attend theory classes
- Take practical driving lessons
My instructor was a patient guy, thankfully. I wasn’t exactly a natural behind the wheel, but he guided me through everything, and after a bunch of lessons, I felt like I was getting the hang of it.
The Tests
Once I finished the driving school, it was time for the tests. First, the theory test. I studied the materials they gave us in class, did some practice tests online, and went in to take the real thing. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but I passed!
The final hurdle was the road test. This was it – the moment of truth. I got in the car with the examiner, tried to remember everything I’d learned, and drove around as best as I could. There were a few tense moments, but in the end, the examiner told me I passed. I was so relieved and happy!
- Study for the theory test
- Pass the theory test
- Take the road test
- Pass the road test
Finally, with all the tests passed and all the certificates in hand, I went to the local police station to apply for my actual driving license. I filled out some forms, submitted all my documents, paid a fee, and waited.
And after a little while, my Serbian driving license arrived! It was such a good feeling to finally have it. Now I can drive legally in Serbia, which is super convenient.
So, yeah, that’s my story of getting a Serbian driving license. It wasn’t always easy, but it was definitely worth it in the end. If you’re thinking about doing it, just be prepared for some paperwork, some studying, and some time behind the wheel. Good luck!
