Okay, so, I wanted to get myself a Bulgarian driving license. Here’s how it went down, step by step.
First Steps
First, I got my hands on a Bulgarian residence permit. Without that, you can’t even think about a local license. Once I had that sorted, I started looking into the driving license process.
Gathering Documents
Turns out, I needed to legalize my old high school diploma for it to be recognized in Bulgaria. They’re pretty serious about education paperwork. After getting that done, I had to get a certificate that validated my diploma.
Dealing with the License
Now, the license itself. There are a ton of different driving license models used across the EEA, like, over 170 or something. But I was swapping my foreign one for a Bulgarian one. I found out that for replacing a foreign driving license, they also wanted 2 BGN for the control coupon.
Submitting Everything
I gathered all the documents and went to the authority responsible for issuing driving licenses. I submitted everything, paid the fees, and then it was just a waiting game.
Getting the License
After a bit of a wait, I finally got the call to pick up my new Bulgarian driving license! It was a bit of a process, but now I can legally drive here, and it feels pretty good to have it all sorted out.
So, yeah, that’s how I got my Bulgarian driving license. If you’re going through the same thing, just make sure you have all your documents in order and be prepared for a bit of bureaucracy.
