Today, I’m gonna spill the beans on how I got my hands on a Laos passport. It’s a bit of a process, but if you follow along, you’ll get through it.
First off, I had to get my hands on the Laos Passport Application Form. I found out that I could download it from some official-looking government website. Not sure if it was legit, but it worked. I printed it out and filled that sucker up with all my details – name, address, the whole nine yards.
The Application Process
- Filling out the form was pretty straightforward. You just gotta make sure you don’t mess up any of the boxes. I double-checked everything, signed it at the bottom, and prayed I did it right.
- Getting a photo was next. I went to one of those photo booths, you know, the ones in the mall. Got a passport-sized photo that hopefully made me look like a decent human being. I attached that to the form.
- Then, I read somewhere that these days everything is about electronic passports, and they cost around 60 bucks. I made sure I had the right amount in cash. I don’t trust those card machines, you never know.
- I also found out that if you’re in Laos and you’re an American needing a US passport, you have to go to the US Embassy. They said to make an appointment, so I called them up and scheduled a visit. They said it takes a while, so I guess I’ll be waiting a bit.
- For the Laos passport, I had to go in person to some official building. I think it was an embassy or something. Anyway, you can’t do this stuff online, you gotta show up. I brought my form, my photo, and the money.
- Once I got there, I waited in line for like, forever. Finally, it was my turn. I handed over all my documents and the cash to the person at the counter. They looked everything over, asked me a few questions, and then told me to wait some more.
- The waiting game is the worst. I sat there, twiddling my thumbs, hoping I didn’t mess anything up. Eventually, they called my name, and guess what? I got my Laos passport! It was a relief, to be honest.
One thing I learned is that Laos doesn’t let you have dual nationality. So, if you’re thinking of getting a Laos passport and keeping your old one, that’s a no-go. You gotta pick one.
The whole process took a few days, maybe a week. It wasn’t too bad, but you gotta be patient and make sure you follow all the steps. If you do everything right, you’ll get your passport, just like I did.
So, that’s my story on getting a Laos passport. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s doable. Just remember to fill out the forms right, get a good photo, have the right amount of cash, and be prepared to wait. Good luck!
