Today, I will show you how to order a French visa. It was not as hard as I thought.
First of all, I went to the France-Visas website. They have this thing called the “Visa Wizard.” It’s pretty cool because it helps you figure out if you even need a visa and what kind based on your situation. It’s like a personalized guide, you know? It also tells you what documents you need and how much it’s gonna cost.
After I confirmed that I needed a visa, I started filling out my application on their online portal. I had to create an account on the France-Visas website. It was easy, just basic info and stuff.
Then came the fun part: scheduling an appointment with VFS Global. I learned that these appointments should be made at least 6 weeks before your planned trip, but not earlier than 3 months before you arrive in France. It gives them enough time to process everything.
I had to call TLScontact to schedule my appointment. Their number is (+44) 203 040 0460. They’re open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. I used option 4 to leave my contact details, and a customer service guy called me back the next day.
At the VFS Global appointment, I submitted my application, along with all the documents the Visa Wizard told me to bring. I also had to provide my biometric data, you know, fingerprints and a photo.
After submitting everything, all I had to do was wait. They said it usually takes a few weeks to process. It was not a long time, actually. I got my passport back with the visa inside.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I did:
- Used the Visa Wizard: Checked if I needed a visa and what type.
- Created a France-Visas account: Filled out the application online.
- Scheduled a VFS Global appointment: Called TLScontact and booked a time.
- Attended the appointment: Submitted my application and gave my biometrics.
- Waited for processing: Got my passport back with the visa.
It was much easier than I expected. Just follow the steps, and you will be fine!
