Apply for a Namibian Driving License Online: The Ultimate Guide for a Smooth Application

Okay, so I’ve got something to share about getting a Namibian driver’s license online. Here is my personal experience.

I decided to go for it and get my driver’s license in Namibia, and I figured I’d do it online to make things easier. I started by doing a quick search to find out about what I can do or cannot do. It looks like you need to be at least 18 years old to get most types of licenses, except for the A1 type, which you can get at 16.

Since I was going for a regular license, I proceeded with the online application. It was actually pretty straightforward. It was only a choice for what you want to do. I chose to do the learner’s license, so I followed the prompts and filled in all my details, like my name, address, and all that. There are some multiple choice questions. Traffic signs, road markings, etc. It was just like what you learned when you were a kid.

After I submitted my application, I waited for a bit. Then I received a confirmation email saying my application was in process. There are some codes like A, B, BE, C1, and C. You can also see 1 or E after the code letter. I think that’s about the size of the vehicle. After a few days, I got another email saying I needed to book a written test. The email gave me a list of testing centers, and I picked one that was close to me.

When the day of the test arrived, I made sure I was on time. The test wasn’t too bad, it was mostly multiple-choice questions about traffic rules and road signs. I remember there was a question like “What does a yellow light mean?” and the options were something like “a) Stop,” “b) Go if it’s safe,” “c) Speed up,” and “d) Honk your horn.” I mean, come on, it’s obviously “b.” It was all pretty basic stuff. After the test, I was told I passed and got my learner’s license on the spot.

So, that’s it. I have my Namibian learner’s license now. The whole online application thing was pretty smooth, and the test was easier than I thought it would be. Now, it’s just a matter of practicing and then going for the actual driving test. I’ll keep you guys updated on that part!

  • Start by filling out the online application form.
  • Choose your learner’s license.
  • Book a written test at a testing center near you.
  • Take the written test (it’s mostly common sense).
  • Get your learner’s license and start practicing!

That’s all for now, I hope this was helpful. I’ll be back with more updates as I continue on my driving journey!
