Alright, so, I needed to get myself a Nigerian ID card, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a process. But I got through it, and I’m here to share how I did it, step-by-step. Hopefully, this will make it easier for anyone else who needs to do the same.
Find a Registration Center and Make an Appointment
First off, I went online to find an enrollment center. The website I checked out was that official government one, but they got tons of centers, so find one that is close to you. Then I saw an option to book an appointment, which was pretty neat. Filled out a simple form online to schedule a time that worked for me. This way, I didn’t have to wait in line forever when I got there.
Fill Out the Form
Next up, I had to fill out the enrollment form. I found out you can actually download this form online at their official website. So, I grabbed it from there and filled it out. I printed the form and filled everything in block letters, just like they asked. They just want to make sure they can read everything.
Pay the Fee
Then came the part where I had to pay. You can actually make the payment directly with your bank card. This made it pretty convenient for me. I just used my regular card, and bam, payment done. And it can be done in any bank.
Go to the Enrollment Center
With the form filled out and payment sorted, I headed to the enrollment center on my appointment day. There, they took my biometrics. This included things like my fingerprints and a photo. It was all pretty standard stuff. They were nice enough at the center, and since I had an appointment, I didn’t have to wait too long.
Get the ID Card
After that, I waited a bit, and finally, I could pick up my National ID card. It was a bit of a wait, but hey, I got it in the end. They do have a way to get your ID through a mobile app, but I didn’t go that route. I just got the physical card. Or you can use the self-service, go to NIMC, banks, or approved agents.
So, that’s my story of getting a Nigerian ID card. It wasn’t too bad, and now I’m all set. I hope this helps anyone who’s looking to get theirs!
